This was just suppose to be a standalone photo to go with a story.  I felt, as a photojournalist for a community newspaper, to do more. Luckily wintertime is slow, so I had a few chances to get there over the weekend.

Although there is another church moving in, this Lutheran church moving out for a non-denominational church shows the change in neighborhood.

Most, if not all of the people that went to the church were from a white middle-class background, nothing like the current area, lower income African-American.

It’s good that the new Pastor and his crew walked around the are and asked what is needed the most at the church-an after school program.

It’s also good that the church was donated, keeping it in the “family” and in the area, serving the community. Click on a image to pull up a slideshow.

Flattr this!
