This Saturday we will have our first ever photowalk for my former and current students. Even though I say its just for former students, anyone is free to come, you just need to RSVP to 1world1eye(at)gmail.com so I have an idea of size.
The walk starts at 10am under the main gate at Qianmen, pictured below. You can get there by subway, exiting the line 2 Qianmen stop, its basically south of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden city. There is parking available, but will probably be packed on the weekend.
We will do some street shooting down Qianmen, after taking in the sickening commercial development, we will head west down Dashilar Hutong.
You can thank my friend Rashiq (and his friend Jordan Kanter) for making this map, you can find him @rashiq or @igersbeijing if you are on Instagram. You can also see more pictures of the hutong on Instagram #dashanlan_redevelopment
After that walk, we will get lunch someplace in the hutongs. Then those that want to go on to the Wukesong Camera Market can hop on the subway and head out with the second group. It is optional to go, I just wanted to provide the opportunity for those that don’t know where the market is, or never get to that side of Beijing, a chance to go. I will give a short overview of the area, and my usual spots to buy things.
The weather is looking cold but sunny, so dress appropriately and get ready to shoot! If you do plan on attending, just please give me a heads up at 1world1eye(at)gmail.com so I can get an idea of the total amount of walkers. Let me know if you have any questions as well.
